The object of art is not to be prefect
The object of art is to have Creative FUN!
Originally from St. Paul, Minnesota, I relocated to Fort Myers, Florida, at an early age and graduated from Fort Myers High School. After spending 51 years in Lee County, I recently moved to Maryland with my husband to be closer to our daughters.
Art has been a lifelong source of strength for me. Growing up in a home marked by constant abuse, creating art became my escape from fear and uncertainty. Although those experiences were painful, they shaped both the artist and the person I am today. Something beautiful has grown from something deeply tragic.
I studied art in high school, attended some college, and took adult education classes, but I am primarily self-taught. While raising my two daughters, I continued to explore my creativity whenever time allowed. Once they were grown and had left home in 2007, I was finally able to devote myself more fully to my passion for art, and I established an in-home studio.
I enjoy working in a wide variety of media, including photography, colored pencil, acrylic, mixed media, pen and ink and sewing my Artzy Purzez. I love experimenting with different materials and processes, choosing the medium that best brings each creative vision to life.
As a member of the Art League of Fort Myers, I built and managed the organization’s website and Facebook presence from 2011 to 2014. During that time, I also served as a board member (2011–2012), Second Vice President (2012–2013), and President (2013–2014).
From 2017 until the COVID-19 pandemic and my move to Maryland in 2020, I coordinated artists for the pop-up gallery in Bootleggers Alley during Fort Myers Art Walk and Music Walk. The alley provided local artists with a free venue to display and sell their work, helping to foster a vibrant and supportive arts community. Today, that tradition continues under the leadership of other local artists.
Throughout my artistic journey, I have found that creativity has the power to heal, connect, and inspire. Whether creating my own work or supporting fellow artists, I remain passionate about sharing art and encouraging others to discover its transformative power.
